| Hello guest ! |
If you are looking for a base to tour Scotland or you would like the peace and tranquility of the beautiful Scottish town then please pay Dunfermline Town a visit. Its well worth it. Dunfermline Town is situated 5 miles from the shore of the Firth of Forth estuary which is bridged by the famous Forth Rail and Forth Road Bridge's. A visitor cannot spend ten minutes in Dunfermline Town without gravitating to the history soaked walls of the old Dunfermline Abbey Church and becoming chastened and subdued by the contact. With its rich background teaching the lessons of Dunfermline's history, its own thrust and energy creating a prosperity more marked than that of its neighbours, in surroundings of great natural beauty providing further evidence of an especially favoured community, Dunfermline Town, ancient seat of the kings of Scotland, has it all. Dunfermline's attractions Include:
- The famous Forth Rail and Road Bridges
- Historical Dunfermline Abbey
- Andrew Carnegie's birthplace
- Fine Shopping Centre
- Fine park affectionately known as The Glen
- Botanic Gardens and statues of Dunfermline's famous steel entrepreneur Andrew Carnegie
- The Sea Life Centre and much more.
Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen are only a train ride away from Dunfermline and the central highlands, which offer the best ski-ing in the UK, are only two hours drive from Dunfermline Town. |

| Forth Road Bridge Tolls End |
The SNP have now fullfilled their election promise to bring to an end the unjust road toll levied against any and every driver that crosses the Forth Estuary into Fife using the Forth Road Bridge. The previous Labour/Liberal Scottish government were on a collision course, with the very people that elected them into office with a policy of increasing tolls to as much as five pounds per car. This policy would have had a disastrous impact on the economy of Fife and, in Labour speak, it is right that the SNP were dully voted into power. The SNP have also removed the tolls on the Tay bridge making Scotland a road toll free zone. Something that the Welsh assembly are looking to follow. Well done the SNP. |

Hi Folks, A new website has just appeared on the internet created by Tom Minogue at http://www.saveourglen.com The purpose of the website is to highlight the potential loss of the Glen to commercial development promoted by Fife council and the Carnegie Trust. I am sure most of you will remember the furore over the Harvard Business School, promoted by Gordon Brown in the recent past, wherebye part of the Glen was to be used for this development. It seems that our heritage, the grounds and infrastructure held in trust by The Carnegie Trust, has been slowly disappearing under our noses. ... |

Anyone tried to contact Fife Council lately by phone. It may not be Fife Council that is profiting from this phone system, but some organisation or some one certainly is,and its not the councils tax payers. Love to hear of some of the experiences people have had trying to contact the one stop council. |

| Flood Prevention Scheme 2007 |
The Dunfermline Flood Prevention Scheme is finally up and running, after all those years of uncertainty, as to if it was ever going to be started. Last week commencing 1st October 2007 a start was made at the Liggars Bridge area of the scheme, with the tree felling taking place to clear the site, before the heavy plant and machinery is brought on to site for the major excavations and piling. Although the area is now looking quite bare with all the trees and shrubs removed at the moment, hopefully when the scheme is finally complete and the landscaping finished things should get back to normal, although a completion date has not yet been given by the contractor. I would be glad to hear if you have any comments to make on the ... |
